Sophie is a CIM-qualified marketing consultant with 17+ years of experience working in senior roles within public sector, health, education and cultural organisations. She has led several in-house marcomms teams within complex organisations, so she understands the day-to-day challenges that marketing leaders face.
She often works as an extension of in-house and agency teams, providing either marketing consultancy for distinct projects or on an interim contract basis to cover peak times or periods of change within organisations.

Process improvement and service delivery optimisation: University of Leeds
Sophie was brought in to optimise processes and systems across the Student Recruitment Marketing Department. She worked with the leadership team at the University of Leeds to review current processes and ways of working and implemented a bespoke project management framework and governance process, along with launching a new workflow and task management tool for 80+ staff to manage all requests for Marketing Team support and projects.
The tool was customised to provide management information on staff member capacity, the project portfolios of certain groups (e.g., individual Faculties or cohorts), and visibility into all requests for marketing support.
Alongside this, she worked with specific teams on team development and ways of working, including delivering several staff training sessions and planning workshops.
Campaign delivery and project management: NHS Greater Manchester
Sophie project managed a multi-award-winning behavioural change campaign, ‘What Will You Miss?’, on behalf of NHS Greater Manchester’s Make Smoking History programme. The work saw her responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of five agencies, organising community events with 10 local councils, creating content and external communications, project managing the delivery of campaign assets and delivering workshops with young people across Greater Manchester.
The campaign has been shortlisted for several industry awards, including the Health Society Journal’s ‘NHS Comms Initiative of the Year’ and won Prolific North’s ‘Creative For Good Health’ Award.
Lead nurture and email marketing: National Institute of Teaching
Sophie worked with the National Institute of Teaching to overhaul their enquiry and lead nurture processes. The work involved working with their marketing and recruitment teams to evaluate their current processes, conducting competitor analysis, creating a new email nurture strategy and optimised campaign landing page, then implementing automated email workflows in Microsoft Dynamics, including writing and building the emails and setting up corresponding web pages and tracking reports.
The work has seen a huge increase in email engagement, far exceeding industry benchmarks for the education sector.
Marketing audit and analysis: Russell Group University/ Waterfall
Sophie was commissioned by creative marketing agency Waterfall to support a consultancy project analysing the postgraduate marketing, enquiry and application processes of a Russell Group University client. Working closely with Waterfall, she analysed and benchmarked the performance of the University’s marketing and enquirer management activities against six competitor institutions and graduate employers, providing a detailed recommendations report highlighting areas of good practice and opportunities for improvement.
Content creation and social media management: I Like Singing
I Like Singing consists of three pop choirs in the Manchester region. Sophie works with them on a weekly basis to create fun, engaging content for their Instagram accounts. She’s managed to grow their following, increase engagement with posts, fill all their choirs with 150+ people on the waiting list to join, and even land opportunities for the choirs with the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
She’s also captured video content of live gigs at venues across Manchester including The Refuge and Victoria Baths.
